Holden was born in Portsmouth in Hampshire. She spent most of her youth in Bishop's Waltham. At nine she was a member of the Bishop's Waltham Little Theatre Company. Holden has also appeared in TV in three series of Kiss Me Kate, starring Caroline Quentin and Chris Langham. She was also a participant in three ITV series The Grimleys and Celeb with Harry Enfield episodes. A Boxing Day special Agatha Christie's Marple episode "4.50 From Paddington" which starred Geraldine McEwan as well as John Hannah. He co-starred with Bill Nighy (and Tom Courtenay) in Ready When You Are Mr. McGill, Jack Rosenthal's comedy drama. Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are judges on Britain's Got Talent. She joined the show in the year 2006.
